This was my favourite date by far this Christmas! We've always loved looking at Christmas lights and with Ava this year it was extra special. We only went to one house this year but it was amazing! Ava loved pointing at all the lights and sitting by herself like a big girl on Santa's sleigh.
Every year I promise myself that I'll check out the Christmas windows in the city but every year it's always something I miss seeing so I wasn't really sure what to expect with the windows in Brisbane but they did a good job. This years story was about a sheep called Russell that helped Santa save Christmas after Santa's sleigh crashed. Ava especially loved one of the reindeers that was playing peek a boo behind a tree.
So we had Avas first birthday party last weekend but her actual birthday was on Thursday so we celebrated her special day again. My dad surprised us with a morning visit which Ava loved (meanwhile he's lucky I opened the door after having to many early morning run ins with people trying to sell stuff door to door)! After her first sleep I took her to lollipops then once damo was home we did pressies and cake before going out for dinner. I'm so thankful that I was off to spend the day with her, she makes me smile every day and I can't wait for the next 365 days and the 365 days after that . . .
Last night we managed to do three of our dates all together - it was Avas birthday so we went out for a nice dinner and after she went to bed damo and I dragged the spare mattress into the lounge to watch Christmas movies and sleep under the tree lights. This is probably the date I'm most looking forward too as Ava gets older. By the way the mattress is still in the lounge and I can see us sleeping through there for a few more nights before we can be bothered to put it back!
Today we had Avas first birthday party - we had been planning it for the past few months picking up bits and pieces here and there and lots and lots of ideas. It was a lovely day down at the park and a bit emotional (which was very surprising)! I was so caught up with making sure everything was running smoothly and everyone was having fun I forgot to get a lot of photos!!! These ones are a mix from my phone and ones from a girlfriends camera (thankgoodness she took a lot)!
So I may have underestimated the organisation of these dates! We have 7 days to squeeze in 10 more dates but I'm determined to do it. The other day we wrapped our pressies, it's actually something I enjoy doing and I think Ava likes wrapping things too going by all the "help" she was giving us.
